Visionary. Educator. Mentor. Motivator

LEMAR A. TABB is the Founder and Executive Director of Future Leaders of Tomorrow Mentoring Group. He was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. His early years were spent under the loving and watchful eyes of his mother. He thrived in the supportive environment provided by his mother who instilled the values of hard work and good character into Lemar and his older brother. Lemar was blessed to have many role models growing up who were instrumental in his growth and development. His grandparents played a big part in his life and their example would leave a lasting impact on him even to this present day. Matriculating through the Detroit Public School System, he graduated in 1987 from Murray Wright High School in Detroit, MI. After high school, Lemar went to work for Barden Cable Vision in Detroit. It was during this time that he met and married his wife of 29 years, Phyllis. They are the proud parents of two adult children, Emari and Lauryn and enjoy being the grandparents of two grandsons.  After Barden, Lemar began working for Chrysler Corporation.  While at Chrysler, he accepted a call to ministry. In July 2008 he founded Lighthouse Community Church of Detroit. This was a holistic ministry with a community-oriented focus. Lemar had a passion for young people and through Triple S CDC, the non-profit arm of the church, many initiatives were launched to empower, mentor, and meet the needs of the community. Programs including, tutoring, literacy, creative and performing arts, vacation bible school, summer feeding programs, and cultural activities were implemented under his leadership. The church and the nonprofit hosted numerous gas giveaways, feeding programs, clothing giveaways under Lemar’s leadership. The initiatives of Lighthouse and Triple S CDC, provided many resources for the community, especially young people.

In July 2016, Lemar embarked on his present vocation of being an educator. Working in the school system as a Social Studies teacher he saw first hand the urgent need for mentorship of young men. Many had great potential but lacked positive role models and came from challenging home environments. This is where the vision for Future Leaders of Tomorrow Mentoring Group, began to take shape. Lemar approached school leadership with a proposal to start an after school mentoring program for young boys.  The program’s mission is to foster an environment for African American males that is rooted in self-worth, accountability, community awareness and educational excellence.
